Homemaking

Although it was a busy weekend, parties and such I took the time on Sunday to do a little homemaking, My house was clean and I set out to tackle the mountain of clothes that laid in wait for me. One load at a time, tackle it I did.
I've been using a new laundry detergent, I really like it and it is easy as Pie to use. I saw a review of the product on my friend Firefly's blog and decided to try it.

My clothes come out looking and smelling great, it's so easy to use to, just throw it in the washer with your clothes and then into the dryer it goes too, because its a detergent, softener and static guard.
Yesterday I did so many loads of laundry that I hung some loads on the line, but at the end before they were fully dried I threw it in the dryer.

Peach Pie- I got a cases of peaches from a friend and so I set out to make a peach pie. I was too lazy to dig out the camera so you'll just have to believe me it came out really good. Everyone loved it. We ate the pie after we had a chicken and stuffing dinner that I made.

I noticed that I've been buying a lot of store brand foods. The whipped cream at Walmart was $1 cheaper for the store brand than it was for the cool whip brand. I also bought some stuffing mix and , same thing, it was a $1 cheaper for the Walmart brand then it was for the stove top.
I found the taste to be just fine. The family said it was good as well.

It's back to work for me today, another long 10 days.
Well I'm off to read some blogs

Yay! It's Friday

Yes, yes I know today isn't actually Friday, but it is my last night of work before I go on 4 days off. So at the ferry system we call it "our friday" It was a long week at work and I'm tired!

Tomorrow I have to take my car into the shop to get a new radio system and cd system put in. Then I have to take Zach to the airport. He's going to Alaska to visit his girlfriend Erin, I don't think this long distance business is going to work out but it's his life.

I don't have much else to say sadly, I'm hungry and I think I'll go make some breakfast.

Tuesday

It's Tuesday here in the Elkington household. It's also the 25th and my pay day. I think I just squeaked by and pay day came just in the knick of time. Most of my money is already spent. It's bill paying time. Gas, water, Sewer and phone bills.

This is what my schedule looks like.
Get ready, go to the bank, buy a few groceries, head home to drop off groceries, then off to work I go.

One of the things that I have been thinking of lately is to "lead by example"!
It will be one of my running themes in my life hopefully, unless I screw up.

Friday Again!

Tonight is Friday and Date Night. I'm not sure where we are going, but we are definitely eating dinner at home. I bought some yummy short ribs yesterday at the market. I'll soak them in Shoyu, Garlic, and sugar before I leave for work, when I get home there will be nummy Korean style short ribs to eat.

I've been looking for deals to Las Vegas in Oct. A bunch of my friends are headed that way in Oct. Depending on my schedule. There is a chance that I get a permanent position on a watch, please pray that I do, if I don't get a permanent position that means that this fall and winter the work will not be plentiful, but I know our family needs will be met.

off to read blogs now.

It's been awhile

So what have I been up to?  I had 4 days off and today it's back to the grind. It was Noah and I home alone all weekend, as Hubs and Ari were helping our friends at the fair in there booth and also at their restaurant in Everett. Noah and I spent time together, cleaning the house, and going on little outings. We went to Chuck E Cheeses, and a food fair and shopping at Michaels and other stores in town.

While I was at Michaels I got some crafty stuffs. My craft wheels are turning and I'm bound and determined to make great home made gifts again this year. More to come on my projects later in another post.

Yesterday I also got some pictures taken with our camera to hand off to my niece Aga, because she is putting together a book with all of my MIL's childrens, grands and greats in it. It's funny how I will find tons of pictures of my kids on the camera all the time. Now try to have them pose for a picture and you can't even get them all to look the same way. So irritating! Here are a few pics that I did get.

Just a little Post

My best friend Kyra was in town, she left last night. I was able to spend some time with her and her hubby James. We had a luau on Saturday which was nice. We played Wii, talked....played more Wii and then watched the UFC fight matches.

Last night she was able to come over again and we went to the Casino here in town. We ate at the Buffet which I am surprised was very very good. Sometimes it's a hit and miss! Then we played games.......I'll just say that she and I were lucky girls! WOO HOO!

She's on her way back to California this morning as I write this. BOO HOO!

In other news, I bought myself an Iphone! WOOT WOOT. That little contraption is so addicting! I love it. :) Noah is using it right now to watch Youtube. lol

Speaking of Noah, he starts soccer tonight so he and I are off to go buy him some cleats, shin guards and socks. Last year at the first practice we were not prepared and he was embarrased (sp) wearing his dads socks. I don't remember this, he told me this just this morning.

Camping 09 Elkington Whanau

This past weekend we went camping with our Niece and Nephew and their children. It was the first annual Elkington Whanau (Family) Camp.

It was fun! We had a good time just being together. We were going to invite a bunch of people. At least the men were, but I said this is our first time camping together, let's go on our own this first time.  My niece agreed as I think she didn't want too many people either.

We were smack dab in the woods, but there  was a playing field where you could (kids could) play on the equipment, we played Kickball, Basketball, football, But most of all we swam! Stayed at the Lake for 5 hours the first day and 4 hours on Saturday. It was hot so, the Lake was the place to be.

Things I HATE about camping.
1. Packing and Unpacking
2. Walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
3. Bees
4. Dirty Feet

Things I Love about camping.
1. Family time
2. No tv or electronics to interrupt.
3 Being able to talk with the kids and others.
4. Food by a camp fire
5 . Dirty Feet! :)
